Target writing

 

What is the difference between a simple sentence, compound sentence and a complex sentence?

A complex sentence consists of an independent clause plus a dependent clause. (A dependent clause starts with a subordinating conjunction or a relative pronoun, and contains a subject and verb, but does not express a complete thought.)

Pollution is a problem

Statement,question,command,exclamation,complex,compound simple,

Pollution is a problem.

It's hurting all the animals, and the turtles. 

We need to stop it before it's too late. 

Pick up the rubbish !!

We are destroying the environment,and its not fair on the planet because of how many plastic bags in the ocean. 

Simple:pollution is a problem. 

Compound: pollution is a problem,and we need to fix it.  

Complex: pollution is not good, because it hurts animals,and  hurts the earth. 

Math week 9

 Communicate and interpret locations and directions, using compass directions, distances, and grid references. i had to crate a map that include compas directions ans grid references.

This week is bullying free week, so we will use that context to practise our ability to expand sentences.

Why: because his mum told him to get off the PlayStation.

They had an argument 

When: 2 hours ago 

Where: at there house 

Why:they had an argument because there son raged and punched the wall

This week in Maths we learnt mapping skills and how to plot coordinates.

 You are safe at home at Kaiapoi Pa but have heard news of your kinsmen in distress

you must get there as soon as possible to rescue those who are under threat and help fight against Te Rauparaha’s advancing war party. Below is my map.

Writing - tuna (Eels)

 Over the last couple of weeks we have been researching information about Tuna (eels). We have been learning to write a report using the information we have found.

Our challenges were to include a complex sentence and to use a hyphen followed by a list.

Long fin eels (tuna) are only found in New Zealand.  long fin eels come in different shapes and sizes.  And the long fin eels have got lots of bumps.

They are more than a metre long and sometimes bigger than your arm or leg. The eels hides in the slimy scaly slippery shadows - concealed lurking and out of sight .Slithering around in the ghouly shady - shallows the eels

Slowly the curtains opened and Mr Bass started playing his instruments. Mr bass was excited. But There  was no one to be seen then this little old lady trotted along the old dusty tiles. and Mr bass started playing louder and louder and louder then. She went  to put here money in Mr bass can then Mr treble started to play the violin. Then tip walked up to Mr treble can and went to put the money in and Mr bass played louder and they fought for the money and then tip stole a violin for Mr treble and started playing and this man came and gave her money then she teased them. And Thur the money in the fountain . Thank you for reading.

 Why dogs are the

Best pets. 

When it comes to pets, it is without a doubt that dogs

most certainly make the best pets. Dogs are loyal,

affectionate and active animals, making them perfect

pets for children.

Firstly, everyone knows that dogs are the most loyal

of pets. They will sit with you when you are sick, they

love to spend time with you, play with you and they

will guard your house.

Secondly, it is widely known that dogs are affectionate.

Dogs like to be hugged, petted and rubbed by their

owners. Dogs also excitedly greet you when you come

home - no other pet will run, jump up and hug you as

soon as you walk through the door!

Finally, dogs are active animals. They require regular

walking which means that children who walk their

dogs will also get regular exercise. Dogs love to play

fetch which is also a great outdoor activity.

In conclusion, there is no question that dogs make the

best pet for children. This is because of their loyalty,

their affectionate nature and their active lifestyle. Do

yourself a favor and buy a dog today!

super star kricket

Every Friday the kings cricket team would go and play cricket  last week we vised thorrington  and
its was the last two over and they hit two sixes and that won them the game so next time i think we could work on rue catching and running. so I hope you enjoyed me talking about cricket.

The good trip to ferry mead

 Two days ago we went to ferry mead on a bus when we got there  we got told the rules and then we got into our outfits and so did the girls here are some photos to show you

museum trip

This Monday me and my class went to the museum. It was very fun and I really want to go back.  There were some things that you can sit on like a  horse and there was a bike as well. I'm going to show you some photos of the trip below. I enjoyed the Antarctic part of the museum and also the part where I got to see lots of Paua shells.

P.B.L - Term 1

This term our Project Based Learning (P.B.L) has been about kindness and the big question was: How can we build community through our actions?

First, we explored some collaborative activities and discussed how we could include kindness and build a sense of community through our actions at camp. Next, we were organised into groups where we had to unpack the above question. In our groups we considered how we could spread community and kindness through our entire school community. We decided that we would offer something that was free and would make others happy.

We created an action plan and …(write a couple of sentences about what your group did.)

cross country

This week we had cross country it was hard because i ran to fast at the start i got tired very fast and i did my best  and i was prude of myself and the effort that i put in to run 2 km.  it was a wast of time siting there for up to 1-2 hours.

What Amazing Innovative Ideas!

Hi, I,m Charlie. This term for pbl we are doing innovation. It is when if you cant do some thing, then you build some thing to help solve that problem. We have been making things like a car that can move with out you touching the car and a boat that can hold the most marbles and a plane and what ever plane go the furthest wins. See here Taine and Sid are holding their boat and hayun's group won and got 91 marbles in the boat.👌✌✌
